There are well over 140 fields within the profession where you can make your mark. From the renowned disciplines such as Corporate Lawyers, Litigators, Judges and the Patent Experts to the less known ones { but equally rewarding} Space Laws, Environmental Law, Research Associate etc. are few among the many pearls in this garland.
However a word of caution : You Have to Work Hard !
So if I am to lay down certain prerequisite conditions for you then that would automatically translate itself into A passion for reading, not just a passive reading but an "Active Reading" ,thereby meaning that you have to acquire the capacity to read between the lines. Hard Work is also very necessary once you enter this profession. I still have the reminiscences of Honorable Justice Sinha when he came to our university to deliver his sermon, contemplating that:
"In Law, there are two types of Lawyers: 1. Exceptionally Good Lawyers and 2. Bad Lawyers, the only point of similarity between them is : Both are not able to have their meals properly"
The Good ones are so busy making their business that they hardly get time out of their busy schedules in order to have their meals at home, whereas the unfortunate ones { and not necessarily bad ones } cannot amass enough wealth in order to have something to eat.
On various occasions we come across lawyers, who sit outside the courts with a table and stamps and occasionally a typewriter drafting lease papers or completing the basic legal formalities for petty jobs. This is not an attempt to denigrate their nature of work , however the focus is on to bring the real life picture that most of our parent's have about law as a profession.
However there are also certain people, who work with the most reputed firms in the market, providing them legal consultation and traveling in chartered crafts, staying at the five star hotels and enjoying every luxury that even Midas could possibly dream of.
What makes the difference is entirely on the efforts that one makes and the Goal that he envisions. So as an aspirant, it is our duty to keep high goals for ourselves and give our best effort in achieving them. In the words of Honorable Dr. Kalam, the ex- President of our country
"It is a sin, to dream about goals that are not worthy of pursuing."
So now is the chance, we should all rekindle the spirit within and reach for the best that we can envisage.
The best goal that one can choose here is to dream about the highest and the mightiest institutes of law in our Country. The National Law Universities are regarded with great reverences and according to the Educationists of the contemporary era; They are the IIT's and the IIM's of Law. However every law faculty and other college has played its role in shaping up the life of an individual and thus assumes a very respectable position in the legal fraternity.
The entire project is aimed at empowering YOU in order to make your place in these wonderful places which will certainly help you to make your life better in every way possible.
With these words, I open the Forum for all your doubts and discussions on all the topics whether it be pertaining to mere basic knowledge about the Subject or pertaining to the Strategies or Subjects...........
Thanx to all the students from National Law Universities across the Country and also to those dwelling abroad { yes i am talking about you Charlotte and Sam } for helping me out in my endeavours. It is my great pleasure to announce that over 42 students across various National Law Universities have extended their help in order to help the aspirants.
Kindly make the best use of this forum and lets make it an interactive platform where all of us can learn and educate ourselves.......

ReplyDeletejust wanted to know wat r the Essential Qualities of a lawyer???
do they need to be very argumentative, extrovert, analytical, imaginative, reasonable???
Hey Tanisha ! Hope you are doing good. Well the essential qualities of a lawyer cannot be encapsulated into a one water tight compartment. A lawyer can be both argumentative { as a litigator} or silently operative one. { corporate lawyer, where you neednt argue everytime}
ReplyDeleteHowever one should be endowed with social engineering skills, ability to read actively, labourious worker, A very good vocabulary and above all a typical observer with great social acceptance...
According to me, a lawyer should also be aware of the latest developments around the world and country, so he should also be good in G.K. and Current Insignia because you never know when a bit of info can prove to work in your side.
I hope that answers your queries, Plz do keep on replying.....
nipun,..........blog seems gr8...............

firstly, wats to be done to do well in g.k.secondly,is 'guide to the llb'[book] similar to the book named 'clat'[hope ur aware of the book].
@anvvskt : Addressing your first question, In order to do really well in G.K. divide a substantial amount of time only for G.k. & Current Affairs, DO NO MISS READING THE NEWSPAPER AND WATCHING CHANNELS LIKE DOORDARSHAN AND BBC< as they still remain the Best !
ReplyDeleteFurther on divide G.k. into 3 parts : Static G.k. includes History, Geography, Economics, MIscellanious, and Constitutional G.k.
Current G.k. : Suppliment it by reading Pratiyogita Darpan English Monthly Edition, Civil Services Chronicle & Daily Newspaper, specifically The Hindu or Indian Express as they will also help you to enrich your vocabulary.
Business G.k. : Read about the basics of Major mergers or acquisitions, The best deals in the world, any major scams, The name of the companies, their headquarters and the names of their Chairmans, M.D.'s etc. Also go through the rankings expressed in TIME. And in case of any doubt or query do let me know for the same.
Yes I am Aware of the book named "CLAT" and the Guide to LLb is similar to it. However there have been on more than one such occassions that the CLAT committee has taken the assylum of this book in particular. So I believe that you should go through this book, and then venture into CLAT if you have any time left. When I gave my entrance examination, I was very confident with my preparation and I did not read Universal's Guide to L.lb because i thought it was too basic to read, but then you never know whats in the mind of the Examinor, so Give your best but be prepared for the Worst !
Take Care and do ask your friends to comment !
