The over all emphasis of the Entrance Exams is to test the Aptitude of an individual for the required purpose. C.L.A.T. as an entrance test is no different from the rest in the sense that it challenges one against the time and thus sorts out a few lucky 1100 seats for the prestigious National Law Universities.
However when it comes to the entrance test for the National Law University Delhi Exam, "TIME" plays a very very crucial role along with certain other factors. Thus one should be astute and very very acurate while solving the exam paper.
Let me briefly discuss the over all breakage of the Question Paper both for CLAT and for the NLU - D entrance exam
C.L.A.T.
Has been an easy nut to crack this year in 2009 with many questions coming from the Universals Guide to L.L.B. However one can expect tricky questions this year as NLIU Bhopal gets the oppurtunity to set the Examination Paper this year. However the paper will be a piece of cake for those who are well prepared.
Legal Reasoning & Aptitude: 45 Marks.
Logical Reasoning {Analytical & Critical} : 45 Marks

ReplyDeleteThnx in advance.....
It wont be any guidance on any subject, it will be simply my last year experience on CLAT which will prove entertaining to everyone.. So check this 2-3 comments. i will take up maths in posts and comments later but now clat-2009 simplified
ReplyDeleteCLAT- Common Law Admission Test, when you will tell this to people who are not related with law, they will think or they think that you are talking about CAT which is completely different from CLAT. CLAT, My application form number was 30028 and my centre was delhi, score was 154 and now not sure about rank whether it was 333 or 337. Being a part as a applicant in CLAT 2009 was tough, firstly the forms were not available in small cities such as Panipat, so CLAT experience started from downloading the form from site and filling it. So, Its advice to all students you dont need to purchase form really by going to Delhi or whichever bigger city is available near your city, just download it, get the draft thing done, fill the form with utmost care and attach the neccesary documents and send it by reliable courier service to NLIU Bhopal this time. What was next, dates of exam, be careful my friends, its CLAT, anything can happen, it was very sad when CLAT postponed from 17th of May to 31st of May. That was a set back, so by last year its clear that anything can happen. I had last board on 21st of March and CLAT was scheduled for 17th May. It was almost 60 days period extended to 70 days later on, NLU-D entrance in between on 3rd of May and SET for Symbiosis on 2nd May. I was applying only for three and still it was very hectic to manage. In boards, I forgot each and everything of CLAT preps except some G.K., Mathematics and Syllogisms, but i fall into the situation of panic on 22nd of March when i woke up, that exams are not over, so started it back from basics after 2 days and trust me i was able to manage recall things, and same happens with everyone. And then again we bombarded by CLAT authorities, Legal GK in place of Legal Reasoning around 1st of April, Now what was that, we got totally screwed up. Whether you are enrolled to any Coaching Institute or not, whether you are enrolled to any test series or not, it doesnot matter, you will find yourself busy in studying and searching GK and more GK and Important questions on various communities or in Universal Law Entrance Guide and all. I had tough times and exciting because i was wasting more time in travelling than study, because i was used to travel almost daily 3hrs in bus from home to coaching institue LST in Delhi for mocks, revision classes and all. If you are travelling, I would like to say, Please dont travel this much, its tiring, its better if you can study in your home, if you cant study at home, then go with GK Supplemetnts and magazines in bus or train. It would prove time productive rather than listening to songs on your i-pod.
GK 95 marks in our time and i was not able to score 15-20 out of 50 before the bombardment. So, i thought this should not have happened. It was hillarious when towards the last mocks, my performance deteriorated from 100 rank to 300 rank in april last and may begin and everytime, it appeared to be a useless mock. But nothing is useless, give 3-4 mocks atleast, you will get OMR practice and will know how time should be managed. I was better in Maths, so i always started with maths, because it was 5-10 minutes game for me, but i was weak in english, so was in habbit of wasting time in english and messing up always with Critical Reasoning Long Paragraphs. Dont left GK for end, its a advice based on personal experience, if you will left, then you may left 1 mark multiplied by questions like anything. Now finally moving to exams, 2nd May, 2009 SET, moving to delhi, dude have light food, because vommiting and diarrohea on the day of exams is worst than being prepared for nothing, and this happened with me on both days. Be ready with water bottle
ReplyDelete. Dont study in last minutes, if you are not in the habbit of studying last minute. Dont sleep almost one month in the time when the real exams are schedule. If it is in morning, dont dare to sleep in morning, i would say prefer some serious study where do you need concentration. Have good sleep, atleast 8 hrs before exam day. I think i was more prepared on 2nd and 3rd and bit lucky, that's why i got 31 and 35 rank in SET and Symbi respectively. After every exam, i felt that i have no chance, firstly symbiosis was damn easy and its not easy to be in top 200 if the exam is damn easy because its easy for everyone and secondly nlud was a random paper and you can never bet on a random paper which is difficult. after that i was just concentrating on clat, being pessimistic on nlud and set. And then some hard-work for 10 days, and it was really nice to interact and share knowledge with co-applicants because it always better to do that and I got this chance in IMS community. it was great and best experience to know person who may be with you for next 5-6 years and we are 4-5 from the same community in NLU Delhi.
ReplyDeleteNow one more news bombarded just within 10 minutes, when i closed my books on 15th i guess, CLAT postponed. It was really sad. I did not try to study really after that and no mocks after that, it was deteriorating, then it was just like i lost. Then on same day, Symbiosis result, i guess i got 127, it was ok and better than many, so i was assured in many. sometimes having a back up help in loosing your focus and then board results 94 %, one more loosening factor and then the final one on 25th evening, a week before clat, NLU-D in. So no really big incentive to enter, dad was saying Delhi is final for you. But last 3 days, i showed some courage and told my father if i would get NALSAR or NLS then dont force me for NLUD. ok. Deal.. I revised Gk and legal gk notes in hurry, went through basics again. On 31st, it was unexpectedly easy
ReplyDeleteand i was assured for 155-160 and it was rough idea that i will be in top 250 but u never know with clat. and on the day of result, it was 154 and rank was 337 almost near NLU Jodhpur entering first list of HNLU Raipur, but I didnot deposit 10 K for admission formalities and ended up being a part of family of NLU Delhi. Clat should be the main aim of every applicant in law university and colleges because it opens gate for the NLS and Nalsar, Rest depends on your priorities. Clat was completed in almost one and half hour and i went twice to the place where one person need to when one is suffering from diarrohea. So what i can advice from my experience, aim towards CLAT, dont let anything in between you and CLAT, Complete clat, dont leave any questions in any condition.. If u want to give answers without reading question in last minute, go for a particular option in all questions. The chances and luck and risk are equal. So what i need to say is all the best to everyone. I hope there will no bombardment on you this year...
ReplyDeleteCheck post in comments tommorow.. You will be able to see how simply u can score 16-18 in maths.
Hey guys, one must really pay a lot of attention to the legal questions as compared to GK as it is exremely vast and one cannot be very sure of what to expect. On the other hand, it is comparitively easier to narrow down your search on questions of legal reasoning and for that one must read and refer to Universal's book on Law entrance,as quite a few questions from that book form an integral part of both, CLAT and especially NLUD qusetion papers.
ReplyDeleteSo here's wishing all of you the very best in life and may all of you make it to the best Law colleges in the country.

ReplyDeletehey can any one help me to get NLU....D PAST YEAR PAPERS. PLZZZZZZZZ
ReplyDeletenobody giving response here......why????????
ReplyDelete@ Samriddhi: I am extrmelly sorry to have replied so late. Well the answer to your query is this: YES, both NLUD and CLAT entrance exams are fundamentally different. The points of demarcation are as under:
ReplyDelete1. Time Limit : For CLAT time limit is 2 Hours, whereas for NLUD it is 1 Hours and 30 Minutes
2. Number of Questions: For CLAT, the number of Questions is 200 whereas for NLU Delhi it is 150
3. Sectional Demarcation: The Marks allotted to every section is different for both CLAT and NLUD, specifically 35 Marks for Legal, 35 Marks for Logic, 35 Marks for English and 35 Marks for GK, 10 Marks for Maths (In case of NLU Delhi)
Secondly, U need not prepare separately for both the examination papers as they share the same scheme of sectional allotment......
However, u can expect a standard of difficulty while solving the NLUD exam as against CLAT.....
@ Anonymous 1: there are a lot of sites that you can refer to: However, there is no all encompassing site that can cater to all your needs under the same portal..... However, there are certain sites as enumerated below
1. www.dictionary.law.com : for legal terms and maxims
2. vakilno.1.com : for important legislations and acts
Important books that u can refer to are:
1. The Constitution of India by P.M. Bakshi
2. Universal's Guide to LLB or Law Entrance by Lexis Nexis
3. Pratiyogita Darpan (English Edition), Civil Services Chronicle, Competition Success Review orCompetition in Focus
4. Pearson's GK Manual (Medium Edition) by Thorpe and Thorpe
5. Logical Reasoning by R.S. Aggarwal
6. Wren and Martin for English Grammar
7. Newspapers......
Anonymous 2: Yes, as regards the pattern exhibitted by NUJS Kolkata, you can expect 2 or 3 questions based on Science. However, it is also worth mentioning that GK in its entirety is very easy to be quizzed by NUJS (as the previous year papers signify). Furthermore, u can also find a simple sitter questions on English......
@ Anonymous 3 : Yes u can procure the NLU D past year examination papers provided there is a notification to that effect by the University. In such case, u can send a DD payable to the Registrar, The National Law University, New Delhi, Dwarka Sector 14, New Delhi
N.B. : Kindly give in your name and email address (optional) so that we may revert back to your queries expeditiously.....
ReplyDeleteWith no static gk coming this year, which section do you think will be the tougest?
ReplyDeleteI've heard kolkata lays special emphasis on logic.. Is that true?
Seeing as how clat has changed the gk and legal patterns to some extent, do you think it will affect the pattern of the other exams to any extent, since kids will be preparing for clat solely (majority of them at least)?
Thanks.
